Far from lackadaisical or categorically "chill", Shitao's Mono treasures space and knows exactly how to manage its presence in broad, lavish, but not necessarily bombastic rhythms. Matt DeMello (himself)

Shitao is only charging a dollar for a whole album of evocative, precise, lovingly-produced hip-hop beat-making. The tracks do tend to be a little funereal, but when they work, they work well. I'd like to hear Shitao push the tension and funk in future releases because the skills are definitely there. spatchcock
